2 Arrested In Murder Of Garland Store Clerk

The men, both Dallas residents, face capital murder charges in the slaying. The 23 and 19-year-old suspects remain in Garland Jail.

GARLAND, TX — Two men were arrested Tuesday evening in connection to the Saturday night shooting that left a store clerk dead in the 4700 block of Broadway Boulevard in Garland. Darrell Dewayne Nash, 23, and Chavez Tyree Nash, 19, are both held in Garland Jail on Capital Murder charges after being arrested by Garland police and U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force members.

They are accused of killing 35-year-old Manish Panday, who was working the cash register of the store that evening. According to a press release from Garland Police Department, the men entered the story Saturday night with the intent to rob the store at gunpoint.

During the attempted robbery, a scuffle ensued and Panday tried to disarm the suspects, police said. The suspects then allegedly fired the shots that struck and killed Panday.

Investigators believe the suspects are responsible for at least three other robberies that occurred in Garland, the release states.

The relationship between the suspects, who share the same last name, is not known at this time.
