Armando Juarez: 5 Things To Know About Dallas Shooting Suspect

The 29-year-old suspect was wanted on a warrant for theft. He lived with his girlfriend and has past criminal convictions.

DALLAS, TX — One man faces several charges after a Tuesday incident that left one Dallas police officer dead, and one officer and a civilian severely injured.

Armando Luis Juarez, 29, remains in Dallas County jail on several charges related to the shooting. He was arrested late Tuesday evening.

Here's what you should know about Juarez.

1. The suspect faces charges related to the injury and death of officers and a civilian.

2. Juarez was wanted on a warrant before his arrest

Court records show that Juarez has been arrested multiple times in Dallas County. Judge Dominique Collins issued a warrant for Juarez’s arrest and raised his bond to $10,000 on Feb. 5, 2018, after Juarez failed to appear in court. He was initially arrested on a felony theft charge in December 2017 for allegedly taking items worth more than $2,500. WFAA-TV reports that he was scheduled to be sentenced to two years of deferred adjudication during that sentencing.

3. He is unemployed and lived with his girlfriend, his relative told a local news station.

One of Juarez’s relatives told WFAA-TV that the 29-year-old is unemployed. He had previously worked with his father as a brick layer and forklift operator. He lives with his girlfriend in Dallas, according to the relative.

4. Juarez was arrested after a high-speed police chase through Dallas.

Video taken from a news helicopter showed Juarez's white Ford truck hurdling through Dallas streets and crashing into a house in the Oak Lawn neighborhood. A large number of cops flocked his truck and arrested him and one other person Tuesday night. (Watch the chase here.)

5. He has a criminal that includes car theft and drug possession.

Court records show that Juarez is accused of stealing a motor vehicle in November 2017. On Dec. 2, 2017, a man called police after he spotted his stolen truck in a Dallas apartment complex parking lot. The man told police he went to determine the truck was his and saw Juarez inside. Juarez fled from the truck, but the owner’s friends stopped him and held him until police arrived, according to Heavy.com.

The website also reported that in 2008, Juarez was convicted of attempted possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, and was sentenced to nine days in jail, along with probation.
