Bench Dedicated To Sherin Mathews In Memorial Service
Mourners gathered in a Dec. 30 interfaith service to honor the girl who was found dead in a culvert after being reported missing in October.

RICHARDSON, TX — A group of Richardson community members gathered Dec. 30 to honor the memory of Sherin Mathews, the little girl whose death broke the hearts of people worldwide. The interfaith memorial service featured a dove release and the unveiling of a bench dedicated to the girl's life.
The bench was emblazoned with a simple phrase: "A life that touches others goes on forever."
The bench was donated by Gene Champagne, a Richardson resident who won the bench in a raffle. It was then he decided to have dedicated to the girl, CW33 reported

“I went to a ribbon cutting, and I won the bench,” Champagne told CW33. “When that happened, I thought it would be the perfect thing to use as a permanent memorial for her.
Richardson police were recognized Tuesday for their contributions to the girl's case.

Various media outlets report the results of Sherin's autopsy could be available in the next 10 days.
