FORT WORTH, TX — President Joe Biden will visit Fort Worth on Tuesday to discuss veteran affairs, the White House announced Wednesday.

The White House did not provide additional details on the visit, but stated the discussion would center around upholding the country's "sacred obligation to veterans."

That objective falls in line comments Biden made during his first State of the Union address Tuesday. He spent several minutes discussing veterans and urged Congress to pass a law bolstering benefits for veterans affected by toxic burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan.

During this part of his speech, Biden discussed his son Beau, who served in Iraq and died of brain cancer in 2015. It's unclear if exposure to burn pits caused the younger Biden's cancer, but the elder Biden is committed to "finding out everything we can" about the effects of the hazards on American soldiers, he said in his speech.

Rep. Lauren Boebert, a Republican from Colorado's 3rd District, interrupted Biden during this portion of the State of the Union to blame him for the deaths of 13 soldiers during the evacuation of U.S. troops from Afghanistan.
