Brasfield & Gorrie Volunteers Build Classroom for Buckner Clients
New classroom at the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid in Mesquite will provide space for GED and employment readiness courses.
Today, 32 volunteers from construction firm Brasfield & Gorrie’s Dallas office served the community by building classroom space for GED and employment readiness courses at the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid. The classroom will help provide an improved learning space for Buckner International’s adult clients in East Dallas.
The Brasfield & Gorrie volunteers also sorted and bagged toys as holiday gifts for vulnerable children served by Buckner. This is the fourth year Brasfield & Gorrie has partnered with Buckner International as part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility initiative.
“Developing a workforce is key to strengthening a community. We are honored to build out the educational space at the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid to accommodate the organization's GED and employment readiness classes,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Vice President and Division Manager Jason Weeks. “This work is a continuation of our relationship with Buckner International, and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve our Dallas community.”

Brasfield & Gorrie established its Dallas office in 2010 after working in the Dallas-area since the 1990s. Nearly 100 employees are based in the area.
The Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid has a domestic aid and client assistance program that serves children and families in poverty. Basic needs such as food, clothing and other emergency items are provided. Empowerment classes in English as a Second Language, life skills and job readiness are provided to adult clients. The Center for Humanitarian Aid also is the receiving and shipping center for all international needs including diapers, clothing, medicine and Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls®.
