Dallas Launches Digital Kiosk Program in Time for World Cup

This week, the City of Dallas and IKE Smart City celebrated the launch of a network of interactive digital kiosks.

The city recapped the event in a Thursday press release. According to the release, the city marked the launch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the Deep Ellum neighborhood.

The city hopes the smart city technology will enhance connectivity, mobility, and public access to vital resources across its neighborhoods.

Of course, comes just as the city anticipates millions of visitors for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The digital kiosks are designed to serve both residents and visitors by offering free wifi hotspots and other wayfinding capabilities.

The IKE software team developed applications tailored to the needs of the city during national and international events. During the event, people can use the kiosks to find:

• Real-time event updates, interactive city guides
• Multilingual transit and mobility resources
• Curated recommendations for local attractions, dining, and entertainment
• Seamless, equitable access to city navigation resources

Ahmad Goree is chief of staff to Dallas City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert.

"Dallas is defined by its distinct, vibrant neighborhoods, and these new interactive kiosks will serve as integral guides, helping people explore everything our city has to offer just in time as we welcome an estimated 3.8 million visitors for the FIFA World Cup 2026," Goree said.

He continued, "By offering free directory listings to our small businesses and brand activations, we are ensuring that the economic benefits of this innovative technology are felt directly within our communities."
