The preliminary investigation indicates that the officer was assisting with another call when he was struck from behind by an unidentified vehicle, which caused him to be thrown from his motorcycle.

A second vehicle then collided with the motorcycle after the officer had been thrown from it. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the officer to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
