Dallas Public Library to Start Interim Services at Kleberg-Rylie Rec Center
The temporary location will open on March 2 and operate Mon.-Thu. from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday from 2-7 p.m.

The Dallas Public Library and Dallas Park and Recreation are partnering to set up an interim library at the Kleberg-Rylie Recreation Center until the neighborhood branch reopens.
The city announced the decision in a Thursday press release. The Kleberg-Rylie Branch Library remains closed following water damage during last month's winter storm.
During that weather event, the branch suffered flooding throughout the building. All of the carpet, several feet of drywall, and more than 22,000 books were destroyed. The full scope of needed repairs is still being assessed.

The interim library will open on March 2 and operate Mon.-Thur. from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday from 2-7 p.m. Services available will include computer and printing access, materials return, and holds pickup.
Additionally, select library programming, including toddler storytime and senior movie screenings, will be integrated into the recreation center's schedule as time and space allows.

The interim services were made possible in part by the Friends of the Dallas Public Library, which pledged $5,000 to help Dallas Public Library establish the space. The funds will be used to purchase supplies for children's programs, including crafts and storytimes, as well as any other needs as they arise.
Dallas City Council Member Lorie Blair said, "This collaboration reflects what is possible when city departments work together. The Kleberg-Rylie community relies on its library as a hub for resources and we're proud to provide a temporary solution that provides continued access during renovations."
Director of Libraries Manya Shorr added that the timeline for reopening the branch remains undetermined. "This interim library will allow us to continue serving the community," Shorr said.
