Deep Ellum Arts Festival Kicks Off Friday

Celebrate both local and visiting artists and march in the pet parade at this weekend's 24th annual Deep Ellum Arts Festival.

DALLAS, TX — Whether or not you're a Deep Ellum regular, this weekend's festivities are surely worth paying a visit to neighborhood often reserved for arts and fun in Dallas.

The Deep Ellum Arts Festival, which runs Friday to Sunday, "embodies everything that makes DFW rock." At least that's what the festival's website says.

Attendees are privy to the wares of some 200 decorative and visual artists, 100 bands and performers sharing a variety of sights and sounds.

And don't forget about the famed pet parade, perfect for any pet owner with a pension for showing off. The parade begins Sunday, April 9 at 11 a.m.

Admission to the festival, which is now in its 24th year, is free all weekend.

The festival starts in the east end of Deep Ellum, near the intersection of Elm Street and Malcom X Boulevard. DART riders are encouraged to take the green line to Baylor University Medical Center station, which is only two blocks from the festival entrance.

The Arts Festival comes during Dallas Arts Month, which celebrates local artisans of all types during the month of April.
