A Dallas fireman faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter after a crash that killed a pregnant woman Wednesday in Cedar Hill.

CEDAR HILL, TX — A Dallas fireman faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter after a car crash that killed a pregnant 18-year-old woman in Cedar Hill on Wednesday morning.

The victim was identified as Alyssa Pimentel of Midlothian. Pimentel and the male passenger of the car were both ejected from their Mazda when it was struck from behind by a white Mercedes driven by the off-duty fireman, Cedar Hill police said in a press release. The male passenger was transported to a hospital nearby with serious injuries.

The driver was identified as 45-year-old Horace Shaw III of Cedar Hill. Authorities say Shaw was drinking at a bar in Dallas before the crash took place. Earlier reports from police say he was driving at a high speed when he crashed into the Mazda.

Shaw is in police custody, but has not been booked into the Dallas County Jail because he is still receiving treatment at a hospital. A passenger who was riding in Shaw's Mercedes was also treated for non-life threatening injuries. His or her identity has not been released.

Shaw currently faces one count of Intoxication Manslaughter, but Cedar Hill police report further charges are pending and might be announced after discussion with the Dallas County District Attorney, authorities said in a press release.
