Flu-Related Deaths In Dallas County Rise To 14

DALLAS, TX -- The Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) has reported the 14th flu-related death for the 2018-2019 season. The patient was 71-years-old and a Dallas resident, DCHHS said in a news release.

"If you still haven't gotten your flu shot it still is not too late," DCHHS director Philip Huang said in the release.

DCHHS announced free flu vaccines for children and adults at all six immunizations clinic locations while supplies last. Visit this websitefor more information.

The adult vaccine is given in the adult immunization clinic on the first floor at the DCHHS building located at 2377 N. Stemmons Frwy in Dallas. The children's vaccine is available at all DCHHS immunization clinics. Clinic hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments aren't necessary. Several simple things can help prevent the spread of seasonal influenza, according to DCHHS:

• If you haven't done it already, consider protecting yourself with a flu vaccination
• Cover your cough with a tissue or cough into your sleeve
• Wash your hands and keep your hands away from your face
• Avoid close contact with people who are coughing or appear ill
• Stay home if you are sick or keep family members home if they are sick
