Fort Worth PD launches new grant for safety programs
Qualifying institutions can establish and initiate crime prevention and public safety programs across the metropolitan expanse of Fort Worth

Fort Worth - The Fort Worth Police Department is calling upon tax-exempt nonprofit organizations to participate in their upcoming grant program. The program offers a significant chance for qualifying institutions to establish and initiate crime prevention and public safety programs across the metropolitan expanse of Fort Worth.
Fort Worth Police Department Chief Neil Noakes discussed the transformative potential of these grants. He acknowledged their potential to encourage crime prevention initiatives that invigorate community participation and equip people with the tools required to bring about change, foster community unity, and establish an environment conducive to positive decision-making.
Noakes shed light on the safety programs that the grants could generate. These could include efforts to enhance community awareness, create safer surroundings, and provide platforms to help individuals cope with their past traumas.

The grant program welcomes applications from 501(c)(3) organizations or those in close association with them. Organizations can apply for either a development or program grant. Chief Noakes outlined the differences between the two: development grants support the strategic growth of eligible institutions, improving their operational effectiveness; while program grants aim to assist organizations delivering community-oriented programs.
Regarding financial aid, development grants provide up to $50,000 for a year-long project, while program grants promise a more substantial sum - up to $300,000 for a three-year project.

The Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD) fuels these grant programs as the primary source of the funding. Since 2021, the CCPD has already allocated over $3.1 million to community-based initiatives, revealed Chief Noakes.
The application window remains open until July 8th, 2024, and the program operates on a rolling deadline structure, accepting applications throughout the year.
Grantees will be required to attend regular training every quarter. Additionally, they will receive up to eight hours of assistance from a trained Grant Navigator. This resource ensures the organization's mission aligns with the grant’s purpose, guiding them towards successful project implementation.
