Fort Worth, Texas - After an 18-month pause due to mechanical difficulties, Fort Worth's notable Forest Park Miniature Trains are set to restart operations.

First introduced in 1959, this five-mile route, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's lengthiest miniature railway, has served the Fort Worth community for an outstanding 63 years.

The train faced severe mechanical problems in spring 2022, leading to its temporary closure. From this week onwards, both locals and visitors can once again enjoy the scenic ride along the Trinity River, situated near the Fort Worth Zoo.

Mary Talley, president of Forest Park Rides, oversees the train's operations. The company, deeply rooted in the miniature train industry, carries a significant heritage. Talley is also the great-granddaughter of Bill Hames, the initial founder of the railway in 1959. She expressed considerable enthusiasm regarding the train's upcoming return to service.

Highlighting the happiness she witnessed on young passengers in the past, Talley spoke of the deep connection many have with the railway.

“I hope people who hear that the train is back open] tell all of their kids and their grandchildren to bring them out here to continue to create the memories,” shared Talley with NBC DFW. “We have had so many families for generations come and ride this train.”

For many in the community, the train holds not just nostalgic value but also represents a continuous bond across generations. With the train's return, Mary Talley looks forward to reviving this beloved community tradition, aspiring to bring joy to the faces of families and children who board the Forest Park Miniature Trains.
