Free Adoptions: Dallas Animal Shelters Ask For Help With Crowding
Animals that have been spayed or neutered, animals older than 6 years, and heavier pets are available free of charge.

DALLAS, — Just in time for the holidays, Dallas Animal Shelter has made it possible to give the best gifts for free. Those gifts are, of course, pets. Because of overcrowding at shelters, Animal Services has announced it will waive adoption fees for more than 200 animals.
For free adoptions, you can take your pick of any animal that has been spayed or neutered, is over 6-years-old or is heavier than 30 pounds. You can also pre-adopt animals, meaning the pet will be available to you once it meets the criteria.
“We are reaching out to the community to help us find homes for the many deserving animals waiting to be adopted,” said Ed Jamison, director of Dallas Animal Services. “Even if people can’t adopt, we’re asking them to encourage their friends who are looking to add a pet to their family to come visit us. We have more dogs coming in every day and need the support of animal lovers, rescues, and all citizens."

The free adoption event is expected to last through next week.
