Full Shelters Lead To Free Pet Adoptions In Dallas

Start your summer off right with the ultimate gift — a free pet rescued from a local animal shelter.

DALLAS, TX — With animal shelters completely full, Dallas Animals Service is offering an exciting summer blowout — the chance to bring home a pet, completely free of charge.

Animal Services said in a press release that the shelters' dog capacity is at 100 percent while the shelter's cat capacity is at 134 percent.

“With record intake this season, we are reaching out to the community to help us find homes for all the deserving animals waiting to be adopted,” Animal Services Director Ed Jamison said. “Even for those who can’t adopt, they can temporarily help by fostering kittens during this spring season will be helping save a lives,” he said.

Currently, there are more than 700 animals in DAS’ care. Nearly 3,000 animals have come into DAS this month; with over 106 arriving on Tuesday, May 29th.

Adoption fees are being waived at both the main adoption center at 1818 N. Westmoreland Road and the PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center at 16821 N. Coit Road. Visit Animal Services' website for more information.
