DALLAS — Registration for the Girls on the Run DFW Metroplex Fall 2019 program is now open to girls 8 to 13 years old.
The program, which promotes a self-empowerment life-skills curriculum with healthy activities, runs Sept. 16 to Nov. 22. As many as 600 girls will be enrolled in Girls on the Run elementary or the Heart & Sole middle school curriculum.
Girls on the Run topics include positive visualization, expressing feelings with “I” statements, celebrating their unique selves, positive self-talk, questioning media’s definition of beauty, eating healthy and standing up to bullies, program officials said in a statement. Heart & Sole discussions revolve around problem solving, living a balanced life, self-care, decision-making, boundary setting and making friends. All girls will train for and complete a non-competitive 5K celebration at the finish of the season.
