Heads Up Dallas: This Is Where You'll See Traffic This Weekend

Construction and other factors in Dallas and Irving will cause some traffic problems this weekend. Plan ahead here.

DALLAS, TX — Nothing is as frustrating as wasting away hours in traffic. Unless you're trying to catch a flight and running late. Some DFW motorists could find themselves in that position this weekend as westbound State Highway 183 is closed all weekend long.

Texas Department of Transportation construction crews will be working on the westbound lanes of SH 183 in the area of I-35E starting Friday night at 9:00 p.m. Construction will continue until Monday at 6:00 a.m.

The construction will also affect the Southbound Spur 482 on-ramp to westbound SH 183, the SH 183 on-ramp and Carl Road and the SH 183 off-ramp at Carl Road.

Midtown Express recommends motorists passing through the area use the detour detailed in this map. Drivers are asked to exit westbound SH 114 at the SH 183/SH 114 split. Motorists should then exit at Tom Braniff and make a left turn onto the southbound Loop 12 frontage road. Continue on the Loop 12 frontage road to Carl Road.

Westbound lanes of I-30 TEXpress will be closed Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for maintenance.

Additionally, a number of roadways and metered parking spots in Downtown Dallas will be closed during a series of Saturday rallies. You can see the full list of closures here.

Construction will also affect the 3600 block of Mockingbird Lane from Monday, Jan. 22 to Friday, Jan. 26. Road repairs at the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and High School Avenue will begin each day at 7:30 a.m. and conclude at 5:30 p.m. Work crews will use a lane-shift to permit two-way traffic to pass through the area for most of the project, but there will be periods when traffic is temporarily stopped.
