IKEA Grand Prairie To Open In Time For Holiday Shopping Season

Right in time for holiday shopping, IKEA's newest Texas location will open in Grand Prairie on December 13.

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX — Retailer IKEA has announced it will be opening a new store in Grand Prairie later this year. The store will be IKEA's second location in Dallas-Fort Worth and its fourth location in Texas. Two additional area stores are scheduled to open in Fort Worth and Live Oak in 2019.

Store manager Matt Hunsicker said construction is on track for the store to open on schedule. The manager is tasked with furnishing the store and hiring and training employees before the December 13 opening.

“We are thrilled by the excellent construction progress made to date, and believe we can complete the remaining milestones and interior build-up by the end of November. Besides furnishing our store, we also are focused on continuing recruitment and training of all the coworkers joining the IKEA family,” he said.

The 290,000 square-foot store will feature one of Texas' largest retail solar rooftops, model home interiors and a restaurant serving Swedish dishes.
