Intruder Shot By Homeowner In White Rock: Police

Police say the 54-year-old homeowner shot and killed a man who tired to break into his home Tuesday afternoon.

DALLAS, TX — A 28-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon when the owner of a home he was allegedly breaking into fired a shot at him, police say.

Authorities were called to a house in the 2600 block of Highland Road around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday about a shooting call.

When they arrived, the 28-year-old man was found dead from a gunshot wound.

Neighbors and the 54-year-old homeowner called 9-1-1 after the shooting, and police conducted several interviews.

The homeowner was released after talking with police, but a murder offense was generated and will be referred to a grand jury.
