There's a new installation on view at the Latino Cultural Center, and it was created by internationally acclaimed street artist Victor "Marka27" Quiñonez.

The city noted the exhibit in a Monday press release. According to the bulletin, the piece, "Elevar La Cultura" is on display at the LCC Plaza and is free and open to the public.

"Elevar La Cultura" is a 20-foot tall art piece that reimagines a Mayan pyramid using contemporary, everyday materials, specifically ice coolers commonly associated with street vendors.

These objects are layered with cultural textiles, spiritual references, and mural elements to create a sculptural form that bridges ancestral symbolism and present-day life.

The installation is intended to reflect the artist's signature Neo-Indigenous approach, which draws from per-Columbian imagery, street art traditions, and community-based narratives.

By transforming familiar objects into a monumental structure, the work highlights themes of creativity, resilience, and cultural continuity, honoring the labor, ingenuity, and lived experiences that shape communities across generations.

Quiñonez, who lives in Brooklyn, is known for blending fine and public art with cultural storytelling. This particular piece invites visitors to consider how tradition and contemporary expression intersection and how art can serve as a platform for shared memory, identity, and dialogue.

The Latino Cultural Center is located at 2600 Live Oak Street in Dallas. It is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. For general programming and information, visit the website.
