Police Seek Suspects In Murphy Store Robbery

Police: "Anytime a firearm is used in the commission of a crime, the seriousness of the crime increases exponentially."

MURPHY, TX -- The Murphy Police Department is searching for two suspects who robbed a 7-Eleven at 1031 North Murphy Road on the evening of Jan. 20. The store is on the corner of North Murphy Road and Betsy Lane, Murphy PD said in a news release. Both suspects are armed and are considered dangerous as one of the two fired a handgun during the robbery. No one was injured, Murphy PD added.

“Anytime a firearm is used in the commission of a crime, the seriousness of the crime increases exponentially,” chief Arthur “Trey” Cotten said in the release. “When that firearm is actually discharged, as in this case, our level of caution increases even further.”

The shooter was seen wearing a navy-blue hoodie sweatshirt and black jeans. He covered his face with a grey-colored cloth. The weapon appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun, Murphy PD added.
