Potential For Wildfires On The Rise In North Texas This Week
You can help prevent the spread of wildfires in North Texas. Here's how.

DALLAS, TX — Residents of North Texas are encouraged to practice extreme caution this week as weather conditions will greatly increase the potential for fire weather.
Areas west of I-35 are most prone to fire weather this week. Hot temperatures, dry vegetation, moderate winds and humidity below 30 percent all contribute to the potential for wildfires, the National Weather Service warns.
Residents across North Texas are encouraged to obey burn bans and local proclamations regarding fire safety. In addition, residents can help prevent the spread of fire by obeying the following recommendations: don't toss burning cigarettes on the ground, don't drag tow chains on the ground, don't park or drive over tall grass, don't burn unnecessarily and don't leave campfires unattended

The potential for fire weather continues through the rest of the week. The Weather Service predicts mostly hot and dry weather as high pressure builds across the southern U.S. High temperatures will be in the upper 90s and low 100s during this time with lows mostly in the 70s to near 80.
The Weather Service reminds North Texans this week that, "If you smell or see smoke, contact law and/or fire officials right away!"
