Sixty North Texas school districts looking to hire teachers
Massive hiring event set to take place on Monday in Arlington, North Texas school districts looking to hire teachers

Dallas Craigslist, Indeed, CareerBuilder, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and SimplyHired are some of the most popular platforms when it comes to hiring and looking for a job in the North Texas area. These platforms, however, are not much of a help to schools and school districts when it comes to hiring new employees and teachers forcing North Texas school leaders to offer different types of incentives to potential employees, higher pay and organizing job fairs.
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the American education system, exacerbating disparities in access to technology and widening the achievement gap. Schools faced challenges in maintaining standards and ensuring continuity in learning. The resulting teacher shortage, fueled by early retirements, attrition rates, and increased hybrid teaching demands, continues to impact schools across the United States. As the nation addresses the pandemic's lasting effects, addressing this teacher shortage remains a crucial priority for securing the resilience of the education system.
In North Texas, many classrooms still have long-term subs because schools and school districts are struggling with teacher shortage. Although there is a slight improvement since the peak of the pandemic, North Texas school leaders are still struggling to find enough people interested to work as teachers. In an effort to combat this, sixty North Texas school districts decided to hold a joint hiring fair on Monday in Arlington, something that is described as a smart-solution decision.

Instead of competing among each other, school districts’ leaders are hopeful that the joint hiring fair will help them attract more candidates and fill the open job positions for the new school year.
"It makes sense to work smart and not against each other," said Ricardo Lopez, Superintendent of Garland ISD. "There's no way one employee can look around to all these jobs fairs, let’s make it easy."

During the pandemic, many people who lost their jobs and had no options left started as a substitute teachers, but then realized how much they enjoyed the profession and decided to make career change.
Those interested can register online for the job fair on this link. However, all potential candidates are invited to arrive Monday morning at 9 a.m. at 1200 Ballpark Way in Arlington even without online registration.
