Storm Watch: Rain Moves Across Metroplex Friday Afternoon

Strong wind gusts, lightning and brief heavy rain are possible until sundown Friday.

DALLAS, TX — Scattered storms capable of producing lightning, heavy rain and strong wind gusts are making their way across the metroplex Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service warns. The storms are sporadic and will mostly be isolated to the east of the I-35 corridor.

Despite the chance of rain, wildfire risks remain elevated. The Weather Service warns lighting could cause fires in particularly dry areas, especially west of the I-35 corridor.

Further thunderstorms will be possible across most or all of North Texas Saturday through Wednesday. The main thunderstorm hazards will be strong wind gusts, lightning and brief heavy rain.
