Strong to Severe Storm and Flood Threat to Return to North Texas on Saturday

Residents should make sure they have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.

An active weather pattern will bring a threat for strong to severe storms and flooding to the North Texas region over the weekend and into the middle of next week.

The National Weather Service Fort Worth/Dallas issued an alert about the pattern on Wednesday afternoon. According to the bulletin, there remains uncertainty in exact timing and threats. Therefore, the NWS recommends residents keep an eye on the forecast over the next several days.

On Thursday afternoon and evening, the Central Texas region will see low rain chances as a few showers move into the area from the south. On Friday, there is a chance for showers and storms roughly along and south of I-20. Severe weather is unlikely those two days.

However, it's important to begin preparing for severe weather now rather than waiting until the day of the storm. A few days out from the severe weather, residents should make sure they have emergency supplies, know their safe places, and go over family communication plans.

The day before weather, the NWS recommends adjusting plans, checking to make sure phones can receive weather alerts, and ensuring shelter is clean and accessible.
