Dallas, Texas - In a strategic decision highlighting its positive stance on renewable energy technologies, Trina Solar, a leader in intelligent solar solutions, has decided to establish a significant manufacturing unit in Wilmer, North Texas.

The soon-to-be-established facility will cover over one million square feet. Its primary focus will be the production of high-capacity photovoltaic (PV) modules, particularly the company’s Vertex modules, recognized for their outstanding power capabilities.

These specific Vertex modules, destined for production in Wilmer, will feature large-format, 210-millimeter wafers. To maintain a supply chain of the highest standard, Trina Solar plans to source its polysilicon raw materials predominantly from established suppliers in the United States and Europe.

These advanced PV modules have a range of applications across various sectors. Significantly, they are designated for use in facilitating a net-zero energy system for Wells Fargo’s upcoming regional campus in Irving. This initiative highlights the potential of incorporating renewable technologies into expansive infrastructure projects, moving society closer to a sustainable future.

The facility's construction is set to begin operations in 2024. Beyond promoting renewable energy, this venture is expected to significantly boost the regional economy. With an investment surpassing $200 million for land and high-end manufacturing equipment, it's anticipated to create over 1,500 jobs in the area.

“This manufacturing facility will be a shining example of how the Wilmer community will continue to thrive with the long- term commitment that Trina is investing within our community,” commented Wilmer Mayor Shelia Petta.

“It’s great to see that companies are reinvigorating manufacturing and creating workforce opportunities especially within Southern Dallas County as this region continues to explode with growth,” she continued.

Trina announced that this would be its inaugural module factory in the Western Hemisphere.

“This factory sets the stage for Trina to continuously expand business in the U.S. and show our customers that we are committed to providing best-in-class products. Trina will announce additional investments in American communities soon. We are grateful to the State of Texas, Dallas County, and the City of Wilmer, Texas for working with us on this exciting project,” stated Steven Zhu, the company’s North American regional president.

Founded in 1997 and active in the United States since 2006, Trina Solar has positioned itself prominently in the clean energy sector, supplying a range of photovoltaic (PV) modules and smart energy solutions.
