Wind, Freezing Temperatures Advisories In Effect For North Texas

An overnight cold front is expected to bring high winds and subfreezing temperatures to the area. Secure outdoor belongings.

DALLAS, TX — Watch your pets, plants and patio furniture because high winds are expected to blow through North Texas overnight. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Dallas County and surrounding areas. High winds could blow away any outdoor objects that are not secured.

The advisory remains in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday. Sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles-per-hour are expected, although gusts up to 40 MPH are possible. The Weather Service warns strong east-to-west winds could make driving difficult.

Friday night and Saturday morning bring with them a freeze watch. Thursday's cold front will be followed by strong north winds. The weather service reports temperatures are likely to drop below freezing Friday night. The cold front will bring the coldest air of the season to the region.
