• RV claimed in Decatur fire Tuesday (wcmessenger.com) — Firefighters in South Decatur quickly contained a Tuesday evening blaze that destroyed an RV and heavily damaged its detached garage on Travis Road off FM 51, but spared nearby homes and caused no injuries. Decatur Fire Department, Wise County EMS and other agencies responded within minutes, knocking down flames that briefly sent thick smoke over downtown and across the highway while investigators look into a possible electrical cause.

Their 18-year-old son suffered serious burns trying to stop the flames, and neighbors are now organizing online auctions and GoFundMe campaigns to help rebuild the business and cover his medical bills.
