Working with the Cole family and Johnson Development, students are carefully relocating and later replanting local species so future residents can enjoy trails, lakes, and parks that still reflect Denton’s original prairie landscape. 
• Denton exceeds affordable rental unit goal (communityimpact.com) — Denton has already surpassed its 2030 goal for new affordable rental units, adding 425 apartments for residents earning under 50% of the Dallas-area median income. City-backed tax credit approvals and Denton Housing Authority incentives drove most of this construction. However, the city is far behind on affordable homeownership, with only 35 low-AMI homes underway and exploring tools like a community land trust.
• Safe house for male trafficking victims cuts ribbon on Justin campus - Cross Timbers Gazette Southern Denton County Flower Mound (crosstimbersgazette.com subscription) — Denton County leaders joined Gov. Greg Abbott in Justin to open Bob’s House of Hope, the nation’s first safe house dedicated to male trafficking survivors. The facility offers counseling, therapy, and transitional housing for vulnerable teens and young adults. Officials emphasized that Denton County residents and partners are central to keeping local youth safe from exploitation.
