• Dickinson shakes off sloppy start to top Clear Creek (galvnews.com) — Dickinson High’s Gators crushed Clear Creek 49-6, stretching their district dominance to a 180-13 scoring edge and remaining unbeaten in 24-6A play. After a penalty-filled start, big plays on offense and special teams broke the game open. The team now gets a week off before traveling to Barbers Hill on Oct. 16.
   

• Local restaurants help Galveston Bay Foundation rebuild oyster habitat through shell recycling (houstonpublicmedia.org) — A new two-acre oyster reef has just been built in nearby Dickinson Bay using recycled shells from local restaurants, helping protect water quality and marine life close to home. Galveston Bay Foundation’s project keeps thousands of pounds of shell out of landfills and creates permanent, non-harvestable habitat for oysters to reproduce. The effort is part of a broader push to restore damaged reefs along the Texas coast.
