27 Displaced After Southwest Austin Apartment Complex Fire
The 2-alarm blaze at 6636 W. William Cannon Drive early Monday that started in an attic was later ruled accidental, according to officials.
AUSTIN, TX — Twenty-seven residents were displaced after an early morning fire at an apartment complex early Monday, officials said.
The blaze erupted at 6636 W. William Cannon Drive close to 1 a.m. on Monday, fire officials wrote on Twitter. Later ruled accidental, the 2-alarm fire resulted in no injuries.
Fire officials said crews would remain at the site throughout Monday morning in case hot spots erupt in the fire's aftermath, and to assist displaced occupants retrieve belongings. All told, 27 residents from 22 apartments are without a home as a result of the conflagration, fire officials said.
