The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Austin.

(Patch Media)

Happy Monday, Austin! Here's everything worth knowing around town today.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny. High: 86 Low: 63.

Here are the top stories in Austin today:

  1. Early this month, 2022 Austin Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Fred Heldenfels "published an op-ed in the Austin Business Journal about his vision for 2022 and beyond." In it, "he shared some of that vision at Cheers to the Year event. Among the things he said was, "My top priority for 2022 is to initiate a joint super-regional partnership between the eight-county San Antonio region and our five-county Austin region. We should find ways to collaborate with our neighbors to form a mutually beneficial economic development corridor or super-region in Central Texas." 2. On Sunday, March 27, a car fire occurred "at a parking garage located in the 100 block of East 5th Street." Firefighters from the Austin Fire Department extinguished the fire, which was "on the 6th floor of the garage," and fortunately there were no injuries. For more details visit: (KEYE TV CBS Austin)
  3. This month Icon 3D printing construction company Icon unveiled a 3D printed House Zero with an adjacent Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). Both of them were "printed at the same time in eight days." Although tiny homes are small compared to typical homes, the market for them is hotter than ever. "Printed tiny homes are quietly growing in global popularity and can now be seen in countries like Canada and Japan." Better yet, now locals can find them "right in the heart of Austin."
