  3. Centro South, a new 164,976-square-foot office building in Austin, recently obtained an acquisition loan from PGIM Real Estate for $77 million. 4. Now that summer is here, wouldn't it be fun to have a pet to play with the kids while they're out from school? There are actually many pets waiting to be adopted at various animal shelters in Austin! "According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals, millions of pets and other companion animals are surrendered or taken in each year by animal rescue organizations nationwide." 5. On Thursday, June 15, Austin City Council "approved a resolution" to raise the minimum wage for city employees to $22 per hour. The aim is "to boost potential employment with the increased minimum wage" in areas that are "understaffed, such as EMS and police." City officials believe "that the increase in minimum wage could entice people to not only join the ranks of the city employees in Austin's time of need but help retain those already employed."
