Good morning, everybody. It's me, Gabriela Cantu Couvillion, your host of the Austin Daily — back in your inbox with all the most important things happening in town. Let's do this...

Mostly sunny and hot. High: 106 Low: 76.
Here are the top stories today in Austin:
- Congressman Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin) recently announced that Austin ISD was "awarded $5.5 million in federal funding... to help cover what it spent on COVID-19 safety measures." The school district's expenses include "personal protective equipment (PPE), equipment to facilitate social distancing, disinfectant and cleaning supplies, outdoor screening and testing sites for students and staff and more." - During the hot summer Texas heat, it's important for people to stay cool and hydrated. However, humans aren't the only ones that need to do so as "pets need to keep their cool too." Recently "Kathryn Mitcham, training and development manager at Nulo Pet Food | Healthier Together company spoke with Stephanie Gilbert, co-host of Studio 512 | KXAN Austin, about "unique and nutritious ways to keep our furry friends comfortable and healthy during our long hot summers." - During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sweet Ritual dairy-free ice cream shop closed temporarily but unfortunately, the store which originally opened in 2011, is now going to close indefinitely. Owner Amelia Raley said, "The pandemic has been a wild ride and hasn't been kind or easy for small businesses. We've done our best to pivot, but it's clear it's time to move on." From June 8-10, the store will be selling "its final stock of ice cream pints and buckets, as well as liquidating its merch, furniture, equipment and more." The final sale will take place from 3-7:30 p.m. at their location on 8711 Burnet Road, Suite H 100-101. (austin360)
- Austin's Literati children's book company will be holding "a four-day book sale so that parents have a way to stock up on books and help kids read throughout the summer." The sale will take place at its warehouse in South Austin, at 4509 Freidrich Lane Building 4, Suite 402. The book sale event "will feature high-quality, brand new, and gently used titles for children aged 0-13+ covering a wide variety of topics and themes." (FOX 7 Austin)
