Ascension Texas names new President of Dell Seton Medical Center

Adam Messer has accepted the role of president of Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas

We are pleased to announce that Adam Messer, MPH, has accepted the role of president of Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas, part of Ascension Texas. In this role, Messer will be responsible for overall operational and financial accountability of the hospital with oversight of operational effectiveness and performance, growth, and strategic development, as well as strengthening community partnerships.

“We welcome Adam to our ministry and look forward to his contributions to our ongoing efforts to provide safe, high-quality, compassionate and personalized care to all, especially those most in need,” said Andy Davis, Senior Vice President, Ascension, and Ministry Market Executive, Ascension Texas. “Adam’s experience will help him guide Dell Seton Medical Center through the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on our dedicated caregivers.”

“Adam is a skillful healthcare executive with more than 15 years of experience,” said Christann Vasquez, Chief Operating Officer of Ascension Texas. “He is a thoughtful, well-regarded leader with extensive experience leading teams to develop and execute robust short- and long-term strategies focused on providing exceptional patient care and patient experiences while moving organizations forward in diverse and rapidly evolving environments.”

In his prior role, Messer was an Enterprise Vice President and Service Line Executive of Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals. In that role, he was a key member of the executive leadership team overseeing the strategy and operations of clinical services lines for a large academic medical center and a health system comprising 18 hospitals and providing more than 2.5 million outpatient visits.

Additionally, he was responsible for championing the development and implementation of strategic, financial and operational plans, providing visionary leadership, fostering high performance, and propelling exceptional quality aligned with the organizational mission, vision and objectives.

Messer earned his Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University and continued his education at A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, where he earned his Master of Public Health degree.
