The day set aside to honor dear old dad is June 16, and there are plenty of places poised to help you celebrate all that he's done for you.
AUSTIN, TX — Father's Day is right around the corner (it's on June 16), and it's never too early planning for that special day to show dad some love. Fortunately, shops and restaurants poised to offer special deals abound in Austin.
Here are some of those establishments awaiting eagerly for you to celebrate the old man, father, papa, pop, pa, pappy, papito, el jefe or, simply, dad.

Situated within The Carpenter Hotel — a 93-room lodging sites enclosed in a terra-cotta block building nestled in the century old pecan grove at the edge of Zilker Park — Carpenters Hall is the modern neighborhood restaurant. There's an in-house bakery there along with a pasta program led by executive chef Grae Nonas (formerly of LA’s Jon & Vinny’s, Austin’s Olamaie, and a James Beard Foundation Rising Star Chef finalist and Food & Wine Best New Chef 2015). On the menu are takes on local and regional dishes paying tribute to the culinary influences of German, Czech and Mexican settlers who shaped what’s considered Texas cuisine that we enjoy today. - Hot Juicy Beef Sandwich with Comté, piparras, griddle red onions and Tony’s remoulade on house-made rye bread.

CRÚ is honoring Dads all day long on June 16 with their choice of brunch or dinner. A planned three-course prix fixe brunch menu will yield a bounty of offerings for only $26. Plus with mimosas and bellinis for $3 each, you can have a fulfilling brunch without straining your wallet. If dinner is more dad's bag, CRÚ is also offering a spectacular three-course dinner plus a bottle of Beaulieu Vineyards Tapestry Reserve wine for two for $120. Each person gets a CRÚ house salad, an 8-ounce filet mignon with a side of truffle potato gratin and green beans, with a shared Molten Chocolate Cake to top it off. Desert Door Distillery will host its Fine Southern Father's Day event on Sunday, June 16, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. All are welcome to celebrate dad at the distillery with music from Austin-based songwriter Jason Robert Blum, Salt Lick BBQ and sotol cocktails. The event is free, and BBQ from The Salt Lick will be available for purchase until sold out. Tickets for the BBQ offerings — we're talkin' chopped brisket sandwiches to bison chili dogs and accompanying sides — can be purchased in advance at http://bit.ly/finesouthernfathersday. Attendees can also enjoy offerings from local artisans Zilker Belts and Maufrais, who will be offering complimentary, custom hat shaping. Fewer things say "I love you, dad" more powerfully than a 35-ounce prime Tomahawk steak, described by restaurant officials "as legendary as dad himself." Two words: Bourbon and steak. Geraldine’s is offering special appetizers and main courses with bourbon pairings for Father’s Day this year, including corn bread with duck fat gravy, chicharrons, an 8-ounce akaushi filet, and pommes puree. To fill the remaining senses, there also will be live local music, featuring Austin’s favorite yacht rockers, Heavy Mellow. Perry’s is celebrating Dad all day by opening early. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the restaurant will offer the dinner menu for guests to enjoy earlier in the day for the special occasion, along with a list of libations — including bloody marys, mimosas and brandy milk punch oh my! Perry’s will also offer its off-the-menu Bison Cowboy Chop all day along with the iconic Sunday Supper Special available from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., so dad can enjoy the famous seven-finger high Pork Chop, a salad and the decadent Dessert Trio for just $34.95. Dads will eat free at all Pluckers Wing Bar locations this Father's Day on Sunday, June 16. Scholz Garten will host a Dad's Day Out this Father's Day on Sunday, June 16, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and will feature live music by Departure, the ultimate Journey tribute band, and DJ Giant Hornets from Japan. Dads can enjoy free open lane bowling, yard games hosted by Texas Playboys, mustache face painting by Austin Facial Hair Club, and an Amurica TX photo trailer. Scholz will have hot dogs, barbecue, burgers, whiskey, and cold beer for sale, and there will be a Round Rock Express ticket raffle for dads to enter to win.

This popular eatery will offer specials all weekend long, before and during the big day. From June 14 to June 16, treat dad to a Father’s Day-exclusive prix fixe menu with boozy beverage pairings. Menu highlights include a 16 oz bone-in ribeye paired with Woodford Reserve Kentucky Bourbon and German chocolate cake paired with Pierre Ferrand Cognac Ambre 10 year served neat or on the rocks. Last summer, the folks at Spoetzel Brewery officially opened its doors for Saturday brewery tours. This summer, they're introducing Shiner Saturdays. Kicking off for the very first time on June 15 — just in time to celebrate Father's Day, Shiner Saturdays will yield an all-day celebration hosted on the Spoetzl Brewery grounds. The event's focus is bringing people together with three things Texans of all stripes can get behind: BBQ, beer and country music, the former from those purveyors of mouth-watering goodness called Salt Lick. While there, dads can jam to live music while taking swigs of Shiner — a top Texas craft beer — while on a brewery tour, sampling old favorites and seasonal offerings from the beer lineup. To mark the inaugural Shiner Saturdays, all guests 21 years of age and up will receive a special edition commemorative glass. Dates: Saturday, June 15, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. featuring sounds by Croy and the Boys; Saturday, July 13, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. featuring sounds by Aaron McDonnell. Not to be left behind, Taco Cabana is celebrating Father’s Day weekend (6/15-6/16) with its Taco Bar Party Box. The special offering includes mixed fajitas (chicken and steak), grilled peppers and onions, rice, beans, tortillas, salsa and assorted toppings, and feeds up to 10 people for $59.89 ($5.99 per person, based on 2 oz. of meat per taco and 2 tacos per person). It’s a great option for large families or groups looking for variety, quality and value all in one, restaurant officials noted.
Fans across Texas are also invited to nominate their dads for the “TC Dad of the Year” Father’s Day giveaway.
