Austin Man Charged With Assaulting Ex-Wife's Boyfriend, Biting Off His Earlobe

Robert Eric Wade III now faces two serious charges collectively punishable by more than 100 years in prison.

LEANDER, TX -- An Austin man has been charged with punching his ex-wife's boyfriend before biting off one of his earlobes, according to a published report.

Citing an arrest affidavit released on Thursday, The Austin American-Statesman reported that Robert Eric Wade III, 33, was charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony and aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

The incident is said to have occurred on July 17 in the 1100 block of South Brook Drive in Leander, but the arrest affidavit was just released on Thursday.

Wade allegedly attacked his former spouse's boyfriend while he was sleeping. Police found the man unconscious on the bathroom floor with a "significant" amount of blood on his face, according to the affidavit.

Wade, 33, has been charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony as well as aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. The former charge is a first-degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison while the latter charge is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years.

Described as a homeless man from Austin, Wade is being held at the Williamson County Jail under bail of $125,000.
