Austin Mayor Introducing 'From The Ashes' Documentary Film Screening

After doc dealing with energy production, coal and mining industry, panel discussion will take place on future of coal industry under Trump.

AUSTIN, TX β€” Mayor Steve Adler will join Bloomberg Philanthropies officials in hosting a local screening of "From the Ashes," a documentary examining the contentious topics of energy production, coal and the mining industry.

The National Geographic Documentary Films' documentary was directed by award-winning filmmaker Michael Bonfiglio, produced by the Academy Award- and Emmy-winning production company RadicalMedia and supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies. Following the screening, a panel discussion on the current state and future of the coal industry under the administration of Donald Trump will take place.

The screening will take place Tuesday, May 16, at Contemporary Austin, 700 Congress Ave., with doors opening at 6 p.m. ahead of the 7 p.m. screening.

Adler is scheduled to introduce the film. Joining him for the subsequent panel discussion will be Laura Huffman, Texas state director of The Nature Conservancy who will serve as moderator; Mayor Dale Rosss of Goergetown; Sidney Beaumont, the film's producer; Cherell Blazer, organizing representative at Sierra Club; and Misti O'Quinn, who is featured in the documentary.
