Austin Police Arrest Couple Accused Of Distributing K2 Drug Throughout City

South Austin mover Charles Herd, 56, and Juanita Price, 41, are thought to be behind distribution of a drug that led to dozens of overdoses.

AUSTIN, TX -- Police on Thursday disclosed the arrests of a husband and wife they alleged are responsible or supplying most of the K2 drug throughout the city, including a batch that led to a mass overdose outbreak last month.

Time-Warner News reported that Charles Herd, 56, and Juanita Price, 41, were arrested and charged with delivery of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony. Police said the two are responsible with nearly 100 cases of overdose incidents among people taking the synthetic marijuana known as K2, the station reported.

The two were suspects were identified via a tip from a confidential informant, police said.

Herd owns the South Austin moving company A Better Move at 12126 Hewitt Lane, according to the report.

Police believe the two suspects are responsible for distribution of the K2 drug that ultimately led to 90 people requiring medical attention last month. Many of those overdosing are members of the homeless community, police said. Most of the overdoses occurred at East 7th and Red River streets.

Both suspects were booked into the Travis County Jail, each held on $75,000 bond, according to police. Reportedly, a large amount of K2 was found at the couple's home.
