🌈 THE BIG QUEER WEEKEND

September 24–27, 2026 | Austin, Texas

Come for a film. Stay for the weekend.

Tickets at bigqueerweekend.com.

Get ready for four BIG days celebrating queer film, music, art, makers, and community across Austin!

Presented by aGLIFF – Austin’s LGBTQ+ Film Festival and the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, The Big Queer Weekend brings together award-winning independent films, visiting filmmakers and special guests, live conversations, queer music, drag, local artists and makers, parties, brunch, a pool party, and plenty of opportunities to connect with Austin’s LGBTQ+ creative community.

🎬 THURSDAY | OPENING NIGHT

Roll out the red carpet at Galaxy Theatres Austin beginning at 6 PM! Opening Night pairs Austin filmmaker Margaret Barry’s charming short The Best Little Tiny Park in Texas with Lady Champagne, D’Arcy Drollinger’s outrageous, high-camp sequel to the cult drag favorite Sh*t & Champagne.

D’Arcy Drollinger, Margaret Barry, and BEPI Park creator Gary Schumann will be in attendance.

After the movies, head downtown to Rain on 4th for the Official Opening Night After Party with D’Arcy and special guests, music, and signature cocktails from Deep Eddy Vodka.

🎥 FRIDAY | DOUBLE FEATURE

Friday night brings two powerful documentaries to Galaxy Theatres.

At 6 PM, The Dads follows fathers standing alongside their trans and gender-expansive children as they navigate an increasingly uncertain political landscape. The screening will be followed by a special conversation with local community leaders moderated by Austin filmmaker and advocate Fiona Dawson.

At 8 PM, Give Me the Ball! delivers a rousing and deeply personal portrait of tennis legend Billie Jean King, revealing the sacrifices behind her groundbreaking fight for women’s equality and LGBTQ+ visibility.

🌍 SATURDAY | OUT LAWS + PRIDE IN LOCAL MUSIC

Saturday begins at 1 PM with our Documentary Centerpiece, Out Laws, following three courageous activists confronting the colonial-era laws that continue to criminalize queer people around the world.

Stay after the film for an important live conversation with director James Lewis and executive producer Saul Parker, joining us in Austin to discuss the politics of being queer around the world and the forces shaping LGBTQ+ rights today.

Saturday night, the movies give way to music, drag, art, and one big queer party as Pride in Local Music + the Queer Artist & Artisan Marketplace takes over Drinks Backyard.

This FREE, open-to-everyone celebration features live queer musicians and bands, drag hosts Maxine LaQueene & friends, a DJ, a special performance by legendary breaker Bboy Wicket, and 12+ local LGBTQ+ artists, artisans, and makers displaying and selling their work.

🥂 SUNDAY | BRUNCH, POOL + CLOSING NIGHT

Start Sunday at The Big Queer Creatives Brunch & Pool Party, 11 AM–1 PM on the pool deck at Hotel Indigo Austin Downtown.

Filmmakers, musicians, artists, creatives, aGLIFF fans, Austin LGBT Chamber members, and friends are invited to mix and mingle over breakfast tacos and cocktails. Tickets are just $10 and include brunch plus a pool pass for the rest of the afternoon! The Skyline Bar will be open with signature Deep Eddy Vodka cocktails and other beverages available for purchase.

Then it’s back to Galaxy Theatres.
