Coronavirus: Williamson County Illness Count Grows To 287

25 more cases of new coronavirus were diagnosed in the past 24 hours, one day after the biggest single-day spike was recorded.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — The number of new coronavirus cases grew by 25 in the past 24 hours, bringing the to-date illness count to 287.

To date, six fatalities have been recorded in Williamson County. The figures were updated by the Williamson County and Cities Health District as officials do each day. Amid the tally of growing illness, health officials noted that 144 patients have recovered from the respiratory illness.

The heightened illness count comes one day after the county recorded its biggest single-day rise in coronavirus cases to date — 51 more diagnoses largely attributable to an illness outbreak at a nursing home impacting 46 people. As a result of that spike, the number of coronavirus cases grew to 262 on Sunday.

The spike in illness on Sunday prompted Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell to urge residents to practice physical distancing protocols in maintaining at least a six-foot distance between people during essential outings.

Although Gravell made no mention of wearing protective face coverings, their use also is recommended as a means to mitigate potential spread of illness.
