Police Release Details On Fatal South Austin Shooting (Updated)

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police released more details on Monday related to a fatal shooting in South Austin over the weekend, identifying the victim but suggesting no arrests have been made in the killing.

The incident occurred on Saturday, July 20, just before 3 a.m. along the 4500 block of Turnstone Drive where police received a report of shots fired. Once there, officers found Justin Lorrell Pryor, 33, with life-threatening injuries. The man was pronounced dead by 2:59 a.m., just over 10 minutes after police arrived, officials said in a press advisory.

Police continue to investigate the homicide, including ongoing interviews with witnesses. SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police early Saturday responded to a shooting in South Austin before finding a fatally wounded victim.

The incident occurred along the 4500 block of Turnstone Drive at around 2:45 a.m. when police responded to a shots fired call. Citing the ongoing nature of their investigation, police released no few details, but asked residents to avoid the area.

Police did note there is no lingering threat to the public in the aftermath of the incident, a statement meant to assuage residents' fears given the lack of an arrest. When police use such verbiage, it suggests the assailant and victim in such confrontations were acquaintances, rather than the violence being a random act.

Austin-Travis County EMS also provided sparse details, saying only the victim was an adult man.
