1) Longtime Austin radio host John Aielli has died. The beloved voice of Austin mornings on KUT and KUTX has died at the age of 76. News outlets report that Aielli suffered several health setbacks in recent years that caused him to step back from his regular on-air duties. 2) Land sale in South Austin displaces residences at Congress Mobile Home Park. A multibillion-dollar real estate company purchased the land the mobile park sits on, and residents were given 60 days to move their belongings. KVUE reports that many of the 70 residents at Congress Mobile Home and RV Park, between Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, have lived there for decades. KVUE has the full story here.


3) Reminder: the I-35 to US 183 northbound flyover is officially closed for one week. Before you start your daily commute, we advise you to seek an alternate route. The flyover will reopen on Monday, Aug. 8. Learn more here at FOX 7 Austin.


4) Texas lawmaker vows to assist renters without air conditioning. Texas State Rep. Sheryl Cole calls it a state of emergency: renters going without A/C in the record-breaking heat. Cole said she plans to file legislation calling for penalties at the start of the next legislative session which begins in January 2023. It's all with the aim of protecting Texas renters with no air conditioning. KXAN has more on this story here.
