Downtown Austin House Fire Was Intentionally Set: Fire Department
Just hours after battling blaze on 6th Street, fire officials were dispatched to 17th Street to fight a house fire sparked by burning trash.

AUSTIN, TX — Austin Fire Department investigators have determined that a fire that broke out early Sunday was intentionally set.
Firefighters were dispatched to the house fire at 507 W. 17th Street near the intersection with Nueces Street at around 5:30 a.m. The fire came some four hours after fire crews descended on East 6th Street to put out a kitchen fire at a bar and grill there early Sunday morning.
At the house fire, firefighters found someone had set a trash ablaze in the rear portion of the structure. The flames from that fire extended into the house and an adjacent office area, according to fire officials. It took about an hour to put out the flames, fire officials reported.
