East 6th Street Bar & Grill Catches Fire in Downtown Austin
Blaze at Casino El Camino Bar & Grill on 517 E. 6th largely contained to kitchen area caused $20,000 in damage, but no injuries resulted.

AUSTIN, TX — A bar and grill on East 6th Street caught fire early Sunday morning but no injuries were reported.
A fire at the Casino El Camino Bar & Grill on 517 E. 6th that broke out around 2 a.m. was largely concentrated in the kitchen area burned between the first and second floor of the establishment, according to fire officials. The fire department credited the bar staff with having calmly evacuated some 20 patrons who were inside the establishment as firefighters were arriving, noting no injuries were reported as a result.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The fire damage was estimated at $20,000.

"Everyone is safe," Zach Volta wrote on the Patch Facebook page after the incident. "There was a fire in the hood vent between the ground and second floor. We will be closed for a few days but aren’t going anywhere."
