Downtown Central Librarian; Attempted Theft, Assaulted

Calls for help, 911, could be heard throughout the library atrium from the 5th floor where the altercation took place.

At approximately 3:15pm January 11, 2018 a Downtown Austin Central Librarian was attacked in the commission of an attempted theft of her cell phone. Several witnesses aided in subduing the perpetrator before APD arrived. The suspect's identity was not known at the time of APD's apprehension which happened without incident at 710 W Cesar Chavez St.
