Gas Leak Prompts Evacuation At Downtown Austin Apartments
Utility contractor inadvertently struck a six-inch line also Bull Creek Road, which was expected to remain closed for hours after rupture.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — A gas line break at a downtown Austin apartment complex prompted the evacuation of residents and closure of streets Wednesday afternoon.
The line was ruptured at the Post West Austin apartment complex on 4316 Bull Creek Rd. at around 3 p.m., according to Austin Fire Department officials. Well into the evening, Bull Creek Road remain closed between 42nd and 44th streets as a result of the break even as residents were allowed back into their homes by late afternoon after the line was clamped.
According to fire officials, a contractor for the utility inadvertently struck a six-inch gas line. Emergency crews dispatched to the scene ventilated the affected apartments to gradually allowing residents back inside.

While all fire crews have cleared the scene and occupants can return, Bull Creek Rd will remain closed several more hours to effect repairs to the line. #ATXTraffic
