AUSTIN, TEXAS — Sometimes, you just need to get away. On the outskirts of Austin, Desert Door distillery in Driftwood is hosting a crawfish boil later this month to kick off the season.

The event is scheduled on Saturday, March 30. Along with the crawfish boil, Desert Door also will be its new spring cocktails, officials said. The distillery is a little off the beaten path, a mere 24 miles southwest of downtown Austin.

The arrival of delightful spring weather makes for ideal climate for the upcoming event: "With a spacious Marfa-modern tasting room and patio space, delicious cocktails, and regular live music from local artists, the Desert Door distillery is a perfect spot to spend a spring weekend afternoon," officials said.

DESERT DOOR 2019 SPRING COCKTAILS

"In time for spring, the Desert Door distillery has created delicious craft cocktails made with seasonal fruits and herbs, a perfect pairing for the crawfish boil," restaurant officials wrote enticingly in a press advisory. "Featured cocktails include The Evergreen, made with mint, cucumber, fresh lime juice and agave nectar, or the Afterglow with blackberry, lime juice, coconut sugar, The Steeping Room tea, and egg whites. The Desert Paloma is also a perfect option for any Cinco de Mayo cocktail roundups for later on."
