Greyhound Offers Free Bus Ticket Home To Runaway Kids
"We also provide a free ticket for the parent or legal guardian if the young person is under the age of 15," Greyhound officials said.
AUSTIN, TX - According to the National Runaway Safeline between 1.6-2.8 million youth runaway each year in the United States.
As we enter the New Year, Greyhound is reminding people of their efforts to help runaways in Texas and across the country reunite with their families or legal guardians.
Every year, around 400 kids and teenagers who have run away get a free ride home with Greyhound, anywhere in the U.S., according to the bus carrier.

As part of Greyhound's Home Free program and in partnership with National Runaway Safeline, the bus carrier provides runaway kids with a ticket home to get back to their families or legal guardians.
To be eligible for a Greyhound ticket home, the child has to call the NRS helpline at at 1-800-RUNAWAY, be between 12 and 21 years old, be named on a runaway report and be willing to be reunited with their family (and vice versa).

According to Greyhound, Home Free can only be used on two occasions by the same person.
"We also provide a free ticket for the parent or legal guardian if the young person is under the age of 15," the company said on its official website.
