Harmony Public Schools-Central Texas, in partnership with Austin Community College, has been selected by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to receive a $317,870 Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant. The 15-month grant period—estimated from Aug. 31, 2026, to Dec. 31, 2027—will support career preparation for 314 enrolled students training as Medical Assistants.

The JET grant program defrays initial start-up costs associated with developing career and technical education (CTE) courses. Administered by the TWC, the program allocates grant funds to public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools partnered with public colleges to purchase and install essential equipment required for CTE training. These programs directly target high-demand occupations and lead to industry licenses, certificates, or post-secondary degrees.

Through the grant funding, Harmony students will gain access to state-of-the-art, industry-standard equipment in their learning labs. The hands-on equipment training, combined with coursework delivered alongside Austin Community College, prepares students to earn professional healthcare credentials and enter the regional workforce immediately following graduation or transition seamlessly into advanced post-secondary medical degrees.

"This JET grant award marks a transformative milestone for our scholars," said Dr. Mustafa Altindag, Superintendent of Harmony Public Schools-Central Texas. "In partnership with Austin Community College, these funds allow us to bring industry-grade medical equipment directly into our classrooms. By offering students hands-on technical training, we are opening direct pathways into high-demand healthcare careers and equipping our graduates for immediate success in the Texas workforce."
